Skin Care Treatments
At present we offer the following main in clinic skin treatments – Dermaplaning, peels and miconeedling. As we have said elsewhere, often a combination of all 3 treatments work well, it really depends on your skin and what problems you have. We will always recommend some products to use at home as what you are putting on your skin in between treatments makes a huge difference. If you havent ever bothered to use a homecare regime it is never too late to start!
Dermaplaning is an amazing physical exfoliation technique suitable for all skin types. It uses a special surgical blade to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells and all the fine hairs or peach fuzz that can harbour bacteria and make you more prone to breakouts.
It can be used as a stand alone treatment or in combination with other treatments such as peels, microneedling or the dermalux. Application of masks or certain peels with dermaplaning increases the penetration and thus the effect of the treatment is maximised. Often combination treatments give the best results.
Dermaplaning is perfect if you want to get the most out of your skincare products and we would normally recommend that you have a treatment around monthly to get your skin to look its best.
Some benefits include
- Gives your skin a instant fresh, clean and smooth feel
- Gives your skin a healthy and radiant glow
- minimises the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scarring
- Increases the penetration of any home skincare products or in clinic products
- Make up application will be smoother
- Skin photographs beautifully
In clinic peels
To compliment our dermaplaning we have a variety of peels that can be used for any or a mixture of the following:-
- To improve the tone, texture and overall appearance of your skin
- To reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- To reduce the appearance of sun spots/sun damage/pigmentation
- To help reduce acne
- To help reduce scarring from acne
Generally your skin is cleansed, prepped and the peel is applied. You may have a serum or hydration mask applied following the peel then may be placed under the dermalux light. Following treatment, a serum and SPF are applied.
Microneedling is another technique we use to enhance the skin or to improve damaged or unsightly areas of the skin. It works particularly well for ageing skin as it can make the skin look thinner and more youthful or on scarred or pigmented skin.
It works through use of a little device that looks like a mini paint roller. One end of it is covered in lots of tiny needles and it is moved over the skin to create punctures that stimulate the skins own healing response.
It is essentially creating a very controlled trauma to the skin. The skin reacts to the injury by creating lots of electrical signals and they cause a the wound healing response. Essential enzymes, proteins and good cells rush to the area and create a regenerative process.
The skin regenerates and repairs itself and brings more collagen and elastin to the area so the skin looks brighter, smoother, healthier and younger.
Microneedling can be carried out as a stand alone treatment but typically we would do a peel, apply hyaluronic acid serum during and after treatment and thereafter place a skin geek hydra gel mask which gives a lovely cooling effect and has some serum left over for home use.
MIcroneedling works best when carried out multiple times. It will take at least a month to see the results as this is the natural skin cycle in the face.
